Thinking about updating your home's most essential space? Our latest project—a complete bathroom renovation right here in Elmhurst—perfectly balances modern elegance with everyday functionality.

If you are looking for inspiration for your own Elmhurst bathroom remodeling project, this transformation highlights how thoughtful material selection can elevate a compact layout into a spa-like retreat.

The Design Vision: Soft Hues & Bold Accents

For this home, the goal was to step away from traditional all-white bathrooms and introduce a serene, contemporary color palette. We combined soft, sky-blue tones with striking, high-contrast hardware to create a clean, intentional aesthetic.

As you can see in Trim.jpg, we installed a beautiful, matte black rainfall showerhead complete with a matching handheld wand. The deep black hardware acts as a stunning anchor against the soft, vertical stacked blue subway tiles.

Why Vertical Stack Tile Works

Choosing a vertical layout for subway tile rather than a traditional horizontal brick pattern is an excellent design trick for smaller spaces. As shown in Trim2.jpg, running the tile vertically draws the eye upward, instantly making the ceiling feel higher and the entire shower enclosure feel more expansive.

Crafting the Perfect Vanity Station

A bathroom remodel isn’t complete without a functional, stylish vanity. In Trim1.jpg, the vanity area perfectly mirrors the modern-meets-classic vibe of the shower.

  • The Countertop: A durable white quartz surface featuring delicate grey veining.

  • The Hardware: A sleek, widespread matte black faucet that pairs flawlessly with the shower fixtures.

  • The Details: Elegant grey shaker-style cabinetry complemented by custom floral wallpaper above the backsplash, adding a touch of organic warmth to the space.

Overcoming the Challenges of Compact Remodeling

Every successful renovation comes with its own unique set of puzzles behind the walls. For this Elmhurst project, maximizing space without compromising on building codes or comfort was our primary obstacle.

1. Navigating Tight Plumbing Footprints

In older or standard Elmhurst homes, footprints are often rigid. Placing a modern toilet directly adjacent to a brand-new shower pan requires exact, down-to-the-millimeter measurements. As captured in Trim3.jpg, ensuring proper clearance for both the shower pan threshold and the comfortable use of the toilet required precision adjustments to the existing waste lines.

2. Perfecting Tile Transitions

With vertical tiling, there is zero room for error. If the wall isn't perfectly plumb, a vertical stack will immediately look crooked. Our team carefully prepped and leveled the drywall before a single piece of thinset was applied, resulting in flawless, razor-thin grout lines that tie the shower and flooring together beautifully.
